Debra Baird

Debra Baird is an accomplished academic with extensive experience in higher education, currently serving as a Professor of Religious Studies and Interdisciplinary Studies Lead at Athens State University since August 2004. Baird has held various roles including Professor of Religious Studies and Education, Director of the Teacher In-Service Center, and Dean of the College of Education. Prior to Athens State University, Baird was Chair of Education and Professor of Education at Stillman College from August 1999 to August 2004, and held positions at the University of West Alabama as both Professor and Associate Professor of Education, specializing in Elementary Education. Baird's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Alabama, additional theological studies at Spring Hill College, and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Auburn University.
