Professor Dr. Phoebe Koundouri

Director Of The Research Laboratory On Socio-economic And Environmental Sustainability (resees) at Athens University of Economics and Business

Professor Dr. Phoebe Koundouri has an extensive work experience in various prestigious institutions. Professor Dr. Phoebe has been a Professor in Economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business since 2006. In addition to their role as a professor, they are also the Director of the Research Laboratory on Socio-Economic and Environmental Sustainability (ReSEES) since January 2010.

Recently, they have taken up the position of Chair at the SDSN Global Climate Hub starting from July 2022. Professor Dr. Phoebe is also a Professor at DTU - Technical University of Denmark since June 2022.

In recognition of their expertise, they were elected a fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science in January 2021. Professor Dr. Phoebe has also served as the Director of the Sustainable Development Unit at Athena Research and Innovation Center since January 2021 and the Director of EIT Climate-KIC Hub Greece since June 2018.

Furthermore, Professor Dr. Phoebe Koundouri has been involved in various leadership roles such as the Co-Chair of SDSN Europe since January 2021 and the Co-chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network - Greece since September 2015. Professor Dr. Phoebe also holds the position of President Elect of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) since July 2019.

Previously, they have served as the Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board at the International Centre for Research on the Environment and the Economy (ICRE8) from an unspecified start date until December 2018.

Professor Dr. Phoebe Koundouri earned their Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Cambridge in 1995. Professor Dr. Phoebe later completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics and Econometrics at the same institution in the year 2000.
