Thanasis Papaioannou

Principal Investigator at Athens University of Economics and Business

Thanasis Papaioannou has extensive work experience in the academic and research fields. Thanasis is currently an Assistant Professor at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, starting in April 2023. Prior to this, they were a Principal Investigator at the Athens University of Economics and Business starting in January 2016. Thanasis also served as a Visiting Professor at the University of Thessaly from September 2016 to February 2023, teaching subjects such as Data Privacy, Python programming, and Mobile App Development. Thanasis was a Senior Researcher at CERTH from October 2013 to December 2015, conducting research in cloud management, privacy, and smart grid. Thanasis also worked as a Senior Researcher at EPFL from October 2008 to April 2013. Thanasis has had multiple roles at the Athens University of Economics and Business, including Visiting Professor, Researcher, and Research Associate, from 2001 to 2008. Additionally, they worked as a Senior Developer and Researcher at Intracom Telecom in 2001 and as an Associate Researcher at ICS-FORTH from 1998 to 2001.

Thanasis Papaioannou earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Athens University of Economics and Business, completing the program from 2001 to 2007. Prior to that, they obtained an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Crete, Greece, from 1998 to 2000, and a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the same university from 1993 to 1998.
