Svein Taklo has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and companies. Svein is currently the Chief Development and Infrastructure Officer at Atlantic Sapphire since October 2019. Prior to that, they worked as the Principal at Operations360 LLC starting in March 2014. Svein also served as the Vice President Marine & Technical at The World, Residences at Sea from April 2017 to October 2019. From May 2014 to March 2016, they were the COO & SVP Maritime Operations at Hurtigruten. Svein Taklo has also held several positions at Royal Caribbean Cruises, starting as a Fleet Manager in July 2001 and progressing to Associate Vice President, Marine Operations. Svein began their career as a Chief Engineer at Christian Radich Sail Training Foundation in 1997. Svein has extensive experience as a marine engineer and has also worked at Aaby Shipping A/S, Radisson Seven Seas Cruises, and the Norwegian Coastguard.

Svein Taklo's education history began in 1988 when they enrolled at the University of South-Eastern Norway, where they completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering in 2000. In 2012, Svein attended the PDI Ninth House Executive Development Center for executive development. Additionally, in the same year, they pursued executive education at The Wharton School.
