Mark Sergeant has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Mark is currently serving as the Director of Operations at Atlas Hotels since February 2023. Prior to this, from May 2020 to February 2023, they were the Co-Founder and Co-Owner of The Good Zest Company, a multi-award winning start-up in the Organic Beauty and Wellness Sector.
Mark has also held key leadership roles in prominent companies. From October 2016 to May 2020, they served as the Group Managing Director of Genting Casinos UK, where they held accountability for 35 casinos across the UK, 1 casino in Cairo, and two online businesses based in Malta. Mark was also responsible for a Leisure, Retail, and Hotel Resort at the NEC in Birmingham. During their tenure, Mark developed and executed a new business strategy that drove double-digit revenue, attendance, and profit growth for a multi-use leisure destination, resulting in positive EBITDA for the first time.
Before joining Genting Casinos UK, Mark was the Chief Executive Officer of Bowlplex Ltd from May 2013 to December 2015. In this role, they transformed the business from the verge of administration to a multi-million pound trade sale. Mark was accountable for strategy and profit delivery across 17 bowling centres in the UK and achieved a revenue growth of 20% through a comprehensive review of marketing levers and the launch of a new brand proposition and product strategy.
Mark also served as the Managing Director of Gala Casinos from May 2010 to May 2013, where they had accountability for 45 casinos across the UK and 1 in Gibraltar. Mark successfully developed and implemented a new business strategy that transformed the customer and brand proposition, resulting in volume and EBITDA growth. Additionally, Mark held various other roles within Gala Coral Group, including Acting Managing Director of Gala Bingo & Gala Casinos and Commercial & Finance Director of Gala Bingo & Casinos.
Earlier in their career, Mark worked for Mitchells & Butlers PLC from October 1997 to June 2008. Mark held the position of Director of Pricing & Customer Insight from January 2004 to June 2008, where they were responsible for pricing strategy and tactics across all of M&B's pubs and restaurants. Prior to this, they held various commercial and marketing roles within the company, including Director of Food Development, Head of Commercial, Beer Buyer, Compliance Manager, and General Manager.
Overall, Mark Sergeant has demonstrated strong leadership skills and a proven track record of driving revenue growth and implementing successful business strategies in the hospitality and leisure industry.
Mark Sergeant attended the University of Wales, Swansea and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver from 1993 to 1997. Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Science during this period.
