Zhiguo Yu

Zhiguo Yu is a Principal Machine Learning Engineer at Atlassian since December 2024, previously serving as a Senior Manager of Data Science at GitHub from December 2022 to November 2024, where responsibilities included developing Responsible AI modeling for GitHub Copilot. Prior to GitHub, Zhiguo held multiple roles at Microsoft from August 2017 to December 2022, including Senior Applied Scientist working on query understanding and natural language processing, and serving as the overall science lead at the Microsoft Language Understanding data platform team. Earlier experience includes a Predoctoral Fellowship at the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, and a PhD candidacy at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston specializing in biomedical informatics. Zhiguo holds a PhD from UTHealth Houston, an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Beijing Institute of Technology.
