Senior Vice President, Senior Medical Director: Primary Care at Atrium Health

Matthew Anderson, MD, MHA has extensive experience in leadership roles within the healthcare industry. Matthew is currently serving as the Senior Medical Director for Virtual Health at Advocate Health since September 2023. Prior to that, they worked as the Senior Vice President and Senior Medical Director for Primary Care at Atrium Health from August 2021. From 2016 to 2021, they served as the Chairman of the Board for the UW Health Accountable Care Organization, where they achieved increasing shared savings and improved new patient access. Matthew also held the position of Senior Medical Director for Primary Care Operations at UW Health during the same period, overseeing operations management and implementing culture change for a $3B healthcare system. Matthew Anderson, MD, MHA earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Wartburg College in 2001. Matthew then went on to complete their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine in 2005. Following that, they pursued an Internal Medicine Residency Program at the University of Iowa from 2005 to 2008. In 2014, they obtained their Master's in Healthcare Administration (MHA) with a focus on Executive Master's Health Administration from the University of Minnesota. In summary, Dr. Anderson has a strong educational background in both medicine and healthcare administration.
