James Meer is the current advisor at Atrium Insights. Prior to that, they were with Appirio from January 2014 to December 2017, where they were responsible for Topcoder finance, treasury, facility finance and M&A finance. James was also with ExactTarget, Inc./Salesforce.com from January 2011 to December 2014 as their Vice President, Corporate Controller. There, they were responsible for the global accounting function, including the global consolidation, revenue recognition, treasury, SEC reporting, invoicing, credit and collections, accounts payable, general ledger accounting, taxes and the implementation of Sarbanes Oxley controls. James was also a member of the strategic leadership team that completed an IPO, a secondary offering and the two largest acquisitions in Company history in 2012 and the sale of the Company for $2.5 billion in 2013. During their time there, they led a team of approximately 50 worldwide employees through transition from private ownership to a publicly-traded company without missing any key milestones. James also improved the monthly close timeline from ten to six business days through the successful implementation of Kaizen methodologies. Furthermore, they served in a fiduciary role as a member of the Company’s 401K Investment Committee and reorganized and expanded the accounting team by roughly one-third to support 40%-plus revenue growth and international expansion. Additionally, they directed the accounting and tax due diligence of two acquisitions along with the purchase accounting, SEC filings and accounting integration. Lastly, they led accounting team through three year-end audits without any material weaknesses, significant deficiencies or control deficiencies. Some of their notable achievements include implementing a tax co-sourcing arrangement, which improved domestic and international tax compliance along with providing greater emphasis on the Company’s global tax strategy; managing a treasury and investment portfolio in excess of $200 million; and directing the accounting function through the acquisition of ExactTarget by salesforce.com.
