Valerie Skoubas

Chief Financial Officer at Attica Bank

Valerie Skoubas has over three decades of work experience in the financial industry. Valerie started their career as an Assistant to the Finance Director at Searle Blatt in 1986 and then moved on to work as an Audit Assistant at KPMG Greece in 1988. In 1989, they joined Citi, where they held various roles throughout their tenure, including Chief Financial Officer for Global Finance and Director from 2009 to 2014. During their time at Citi, they were responsible for managing financials for two main legal entities and played a key role in navigating the financial crisis in Greece. Valerie also led finance in the Greek franchise, focusing on expansion and cost reduction. Valerie was a key member of the Consumer Management team and contributed to driving strategy and execution. Valerie also served as Chief of Staff and Consumer CFO in the Consumer Division from 2007 to 2009, where they led expense improvement initiatives and implemented the Citimax scheme in Greece. Valerie then joined HSBC in 2015, initially serving as CFO until 2020 and later as a Project Director until 2021. Currently, they hold the position of Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer at Attica Bank since April 2022, and is set to become the Chief Financial Officer of the bank from January 2023 onwards. Valerie has a track record of building high-performing teams and achieving high employee engagement even in challenging times.

Valerie Skoubas obtained a Diploma in Corporate Governance for NEDS from The Corporate Governance Institute in the year 2022. Prior to this, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Accounting from St. John's University between 1984 and 1987.
