Derek Silva

Derek Silva has a diverse work experience in various industries. Derek currently works as a Content Marketing Lead at Atticus since August 2022. Prior to that, Derek worked at Policygenius Inc. for several years, starting as a Staff Writer in April 2019 and progressing to the role of Editor and then Senior Editor. Derek then joined SmartAsset as a Writer, where they wrote articles on financial topics and managed the company's social media accounts. Derek also worked as a Research Technician at Cryoocyte, conducting experiments in cryogenics and low-temperature preservation for fish eggs. Additionally, they gained experience in the wine industry as a Vineyard Intern at Mount Warner Vineyards, where they assisted with the wine-making process.

Derek Silva completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Plant, Soil and Insect Sciences from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they studied from 2011 to 2014. In addition to their degree, they also obtained certifications as a Certified Educator in Personal Finance (CEPF) from Fincert in January 2018, and in Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED from the American Red Cross in April 2015.
