Renee Saville has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Renee is currently the Director of Technology Development and Innovation at ATUM, a position they have held since May 2021. Prior to their current role, Renee worked at Calysta where they held various positions including Senior Director of Biology from January 2020 to February 2021, Director of Strain Engineering and Applied Science from May 2018 to January 2020, Senior Scientist and Technical Lead of Strain Engineering from January 2014 to May 2018, and Scientist of Strain Engineering from May 2012 to December 2013.

Before their time at Calysta, Renee was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Joint BioEnergy Institute from October 2009 to March 2011. Renee also worked as a Postdoctoral Intern at Genencor International from June 2009 to September 2009.

Earlier in their career, Renee served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University from December 2008 to June 2009. Renee began their professional journey as a Chemist II at ALZA Corporation from October 1998 to June 2001, and prior to that, they worked as a Research Associate I at Sequus Pharmaceuticals from July 1996 to September 1998.

From 1992 to 1996, they attended Mills College and obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology.

Following this, they enrolled at Stanford University, where they pursued a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from 2001 to 2002.

Continuing their education at Stanford University, Renee Saville then undertook a Ph.D. program in Environmental Engineering/Microbiology from 2002 to 2008.
