Julia Paredes has a diverse work experience in the field of software development and research. Julia started their career as a Software Developer Intern at Ivrnet, where they worked on the TableNOC project, focusing on visualizing and monitoring network data using GIS. Julia then became an Undergraduate Research Assistant, where they assisted in the design and development of TableNOC and PairedVis, using D3 to create visualizations.
Julia continued their research work as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Clinical Research Unit, University of Calgary. Here, they conducted usability studies with clinicians to improve an ontology tool and developed a reporting tool for analyzing patient evolution based on electronic health records, using a user-centered design approach.
After that, Julia joined the Hotchkiss Brain Institute as a Graduate Research Assistant, where they contributed to research projects as part of their graduate studies.
Their most recent role is at atVenu, where they started as a Software Developer and eventually became a Staff Software Developer.
Julia Paredes started their education journey in 2009 at Mount Royal University, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science until 2011. Subsequently, they transferred to the University of Calgary and continued their Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from 2011 to 2014. After completing their undergraduate studies, Julia Paredes pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science at the University of Calgary from 2014 to 2015.
