Ross Roberts has a diverse work experience spanning multiple organizations and roles. Ross is currently involved with the New Zealand Geotechnical Society, where they have held various positions such as International Association of Engineering Geology & the Environment national representative, Immediate Past Chair, Chair, Vice Chair & Treasurer, Committee member / website manager, and NZ Geomechanics News Co-editor.

At Auckland Council, Ross has served as the Head of Engineering Resilience, overseeing teams of coastal, geotechnical, and natural hazards experts. Ross is also the Geotechnical & Geological Practice Lead, providing technical leadership and guidance in geotechnical issues.

Ross has been a part-time lecturer at Unitec Institute of Technology and has held positions at Jacobs as the Ground Engineering Section Leader and Engineering Geologist / Team Leader. Ross also worked as an Engineering Geologist at Sinclair Knight Merz and Jacobs Engineering, and started their career as an Engineering Geologist at Babtie Group.

In addition, Ross is a council representative for the International Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment.

Ross Roberts earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Geology from The University of Edinburgh in the years 1997 to 2001. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Engineering geology from Newcastle University from 2002 to 2003. Additionally, they attended The University of Auckland for further studies in Geotechnical Engineering. Ross has also achieved several certifications, including Chartered Professional Engineer and Professional Engineering Geologist from Engineering New Zealand, as well as Chartered Geologist from the Geological Society of London. Further certifications include Integrating Asset Management and Governance and Professional Certificate in Asset Management Planning from IPWEA.
