Sheikh Hoq

Vice President—medical Affairs Chief Medical Officer at Augusta Health

Sheikh Hoq has a diverse and extensive work experience. Sheikh is currently serving as the Director of Student Medical Education at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine since 2022. Before that, they worked at Augusta Health as the Vice President of Medical Affairs & Chief Medical Officer and also as the Designated Institutional Officer (DIO). Prior to their time at Augusta Health, Sheikh held various roles at Bridgeport Hospital including Interim Vice President Medical Director of Performance, Safety, Quality & Regulatory Affairs, Executive Director of Clinical Operations & Effectiveness, Director and Section Chief of Hospital Medicine, and Medical Director of the Department of Care Coordination. Sheikh also worked at Yale University School of Medicine as an Assistant Clinical Professor, researcher, and resident. Sheikh Hoq has also served as an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Saba University School of Medicine and Quinnipiac University School of Nursing. Additionally, they have worked as an attending physician at Bridgeport Hospital and as a research assistant at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.

Sheikh Hoq obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) degree from the University of Dhaka in 1996. Sheikh later pursued a Master of Public Health (Epidemiology) degree at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, completing it in 2002.

In addition to their formal education, Sheikh Hoq has also obtained various certifications. In 2017, they completed the Yale Medical Group Advanced Emerging Leaders Program (AELP) at the Yale School of Management. Prior to this, they completed The Academy Physician Leadership Program (PLP) in 2016, also from The Health Management Academy. In 2015, they participated in the Yale Medical Group Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) at the Yale School of Management. Starting from 2014, Sheikh Hoq attended the Leadership Greater Bridgeport (LGB) program offered by the Bridgeport Regional Business Council (BRBC).
