Chris J. Melcher is currently the VP of Legal Affairs & General Counsel at Augusta University. Prior to this, they served as the City Attorney/Chief Legal Officer to the City of Colorado Springs from October 2011 to January 2014. In this role, they were responsible for managing 25 attorneys and 15 staff, as well as overseeing the annual outside legal budget of $6 million. Chris also served as the lead negotiator for the successful 40-year operating lease of Memorial Health Systems with a total value to the City of $1.9 billion.
From April 2006 to September 2011, Melcher served as the General Counsel & Secretary to The Colorado College, a highly ranked private liberal arts college. In this role, they supported the President and Board of Trustees, with responsibility for all legal issues, risk management, regulatory compliance, litigation, employment, business development, real estate, and legal advice on endowment investments.
Prior to their work at The Colorado College, Melcher served as Vice President of Law & Public Policy at Comcast from May 2003 to June 2005.
Chris J. Melcher attended Yale Law School and received their JD. Chris also has a Bachelor of Arts in Chris'story from Carleton College. Chris is certified from the Colorado Bar, California Bar, and US Supreme Court Bar.
