Simone Gonçalves

Simone Gonçalves has extensive legal work experience spanning over several companies. Simone began their career as a Legal Intern at Elektro from November 1999 to December 2000. Simone then worked as a Legal Assistant from January 2001 to December 2001, and later as a Junior Lawyer from January 2002 to June 2005.

Following this, Simone joined AES Eletropaulo and served as a Lawyer Level II from June 2005 to December 2007, and subsequently as a Junior Legal Manager from January 2008 to December 2010.

In 2011, Simone joined Anglo American/CMOC International as a Legal Manager Level II, where they worked until 2017. Simone then moved to Contour Global, where they held the position of Senior Legal Manager from July 2017 to October 2019.

Simone currently serves as the Head of Legal Department at Aura Minerals Inc, a position they have held since November 2019. In their role, they are responsible for managing legal operations across Latin America and providing support to business demands in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Honduras. Simone has also taken on additional responsibilities, including project coordination, negotiation, and contract definition. Simone is also regarded as a data protection officer for the company, leading the Internal Work Committee and reporting to senior management. Lastly, they represent the legal department in interactions with public and professional organizations.

Simone Gonçalves started their education journey by completing their Bachelor's degree in Law from the Universidade Paulista between 1995 and 2000. In 2005-2006, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Corporate and Economy Law at FGV - Fundação Getulio Vargas. Later, in 2008-2009, they obtained a Post-Graduation degree in Civil and Civil Procedural Law from Escola Paulista de Direito.

Simone continued their professional development by undertaking a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Corporate Management at FIA - Fundação Instituto de Administração from 2017 to 2019. Simone then pursued another MBA in Compliance and Governance from UFSCar - Alumni between 2019 and 2021, which was in collaboration with IBDEE and Deloitte.

More recently, Simone pursued further education at IBGC in 2021, focusing on Secretaria da Governança Corporativa. Additionally, they are currently enrolled in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program in Gestão de Negócios: Inovação e Empreendedorismo at FIA Business School, which they started in 2021 and is expected to complete by 2024.
