Joseph Evans

Interim Laboratory Director at Aurum Labs

Joseph Evans holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from UC Irvine and a master’s degree in Environmental Chemistry from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; concurrently attending UNC with Michael Jordan (time frame, not a personal reference). Following a career working on environmental R&D contracts for EPA, and a short period in Afghanistan managing a forensic laboratory for the military, he made a shift in his career path in 2013 when marijuana legalization was moving forward, venturing into the field of marijuana chemistry. He started 2 separate marijuana testing labs in Colorado and one in California prior to settling in Durango to become Lab Director at Aurum Laboratories. This was a calculated career move, providing him the opportunity to concentrate on the “science” behind the laboratory and settle once again into Colorado Cannabis regulations, shifting his focus away from business concerns associated with startup laboratories. His primary objective is to assist the other equally capable scientists working at the laboratory in developing more accurate and precise analyses in order that Aurum Labs remains a trusted leader in the often misunderstood and misrepresented arena of cannabis testing.
