Dex Parra is an experienced investigator at the Travis County Public Defender's Office, having begun in June 2024. Since January 2023, Dex has worked as a freelance journalist for The Austin Chronicle, focusing on Texas politics, the LGBTQ+ community, housing, local news, and advocacy. Previous roles include senior law clerk and litigation law clerk at Terrazas PLLC, and team member at Whole Foods Market, where responsibilities included quality assurance and customer service in the bakery department. In early 2023, Dex served as a legislative aide for the Texas House of Representatives, assisting with policy development and constituent relations. Additional experience includes a research scholar position at the Center for Media Engagement at The University of Texas at Austin, where Dex wrote case studies on media ethics, and a legislative intern role at the Texas House of Representatives during the early COVID-19 pandemic. Dex holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from The University of Texas at Austin, obtained in May 2023.
