Lisa Upton

Lisa Upton is an accomplished communications professional with extensive experience in journalism and public affairs. Currently serving as the Head of Communications and Public Affairs at Australia for UNHCR since October 2021, Lisa has previously held prominent roles such as Communications Director at The Climate Council and Chief Producer, International Editor at the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) Australia. Lisa's journalism career spans various positions, including India Correspondent and Chief Producer for late news at SBS, and earlier roles at the BBC and Australian Broadcasting Corporation. With a Bachelor's degree in Arts, Communications, Journalism, History, and Politics from Charles Sturt University, Lisa has a strong foundation in storytelling and media development, demonstrated by significant work in building skills of women in journalism in Pakistan while with Internews Network.
