Dr Simon Walsh

Dr Simon Walsh PSM has extensive work experience in forensic science and technology. Dr Simon began their career as a Forensic DNA Expert at Queensland Health Forensic and Scientific Services (QHFSS) in 1994. Dr Simon then worked as a Forensic DNA Expert at ESR – Science and Research from 1998 to 2001. In 2003, they joined the University of Technology Sydney as a Lecturer and remained in that position until 2006. Dr Simon then joined the Australian Federal Police (AFP), where they held various positions including Forensic DNA Expert, Coordinator Biometrics, and Chief Forensic Scientist from 2006 to 2015. Since 2015, Dr Walsh has been with the AFP as the National Manager Operational Science & Technology and currently holds the role of Chief Scientist.

Dr Simon Walsh PSM earned a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Forensic Science and Technology from the University of Technology Sydney in 2009. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science - BS in Cell/Cellular Biology and Anatomical Sciences from The University of Queensland in 2004.
