James Ceely

James Ceely has a diverse work experience in the sports industry. James is currently the Head of Participation and Programs at the AFL - Australian Football League since November 2020. Prior to this, they worked at the Australian Sports Commission as the Deputy General Manager from December 2018 to October 2020, where they led various initiatives to increase participation in sports and physical activities across Australia. James also served as the Director of Sports Governance at the same organization from May 2013 to December 2018.

In 2018, James worked as a Lecturer at the University of Canberra for a short period. Before that, they held multiple roles at the Australian Football League, including Manager of Community Participation (NSW/ACT), Manager of Competitions & Community Football (NSW/ACT), Participation Manager of Southern NSW/ACT, Regional Manager of ACT/South Coast, and Development Manager of ACT. James started their career with the AFL as a Regional Talent Manager for ACT/South Coast in 2003.
