Kate Burry is a Research Officer at the Kirby Institute, UNSW Sydney, focusing on reproductive abuse and coercion within Australia, and serves as a Policy Officer for the Sex Discrimination Team at the Australian Human Rights Commission. As a PhD candidate at UNSW, Kate's research delves into reproductive justice, abortion, and infanticide in the Pacific Islands, while also having held roles as a guest lecturer at the University of Sydney and a research assistant on comprehensive sexuality education. Previous positions include Programme Development and Research Adviser at the National Collective of Independent Women's Refuges and Chief Investigator for a project in rural Vanuatu, as well as educator and facilitator in various organizations dedicated to sexual and reproductive health. Kate holds a Master of Development Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Philosophy from Victoria University of Wellington.
