Thomas Armstrong

Experimental Scientist - IMOS Physical Oceanography at Australian Institute of Marine Science

Thomas Armstrong is an experienced experimental scientist specializing in physical oceanography at the Australian Institute of Marine Science since April 2017. This role involves maintaining and deploying oceanographic instrumentation, recovering data, and applying quality control procedures and analysis, as well as spending extended periods at sea. Previously, Thomas served as a technical officer focusing on larval rearing and live feeds, managing a live feeds laboratory and advancing techniques for triton snail larval rearing. Thomas's prior experience includes working as an aquaculture technician at Coral Coast Barramundi, overseeing the husbandry of finfish, and as a deckhand at Armstrong Fishing, where responsibilities included repairing traps and operating vessels. Academic qualifications include a Master's degree in Data Science from James Cook University and a Bachelor's degree in Marine Science and Environmental Science with a minor in Fisheries Science from Murdoch University.
