Australian Sports Commission
Australian Sports Commission is a Commonwealth entity within the Australian Government’s Department of Health portfolio, and incorporating high performance leader the AIS. It was established in 1985 and is governed by a board of commissioners appointed by the Australian Government with the board determining Australian Sports Commission’s overall direction, detailed allocation of resources and policy for delegated decisions. Australian Sports Commission is accountable to the Minister of Sport and to Parliament. Australian Sports Commission is administered from Canberra at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Bruce campus. Other AIS operations are located in various capital cities around Australia, as well as the Gold Coast and Varese in Italy. Australian Sports Commission also manages Sporting Schools https://sportingschools.gov.au which is is Australia’s largest school-based participation program to help children foster a lifelong interest in sport.
