Jim Lowther

Business Development Director (defence) at Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade)

Jim Lowther has a diverse background in the military and government sectors. Jim has held various roles, including Business Development Director at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, Defence Attache at the British Embassy in Abu Dhabi, and Chief of Staff at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom. Their experience includes leading teams, providing strategic advice, and managing military relations and activities. Prior to that, they served in the Royal Navy, specializing in Surface Warfare and navigation.

Jim Lowther completed their Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Swansea University in 1986. Jim then pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Navigation from the University of Plymouth in 2001. In 2007, they earned a Master's degree in Defence Studies from King's College London. Currently, Jim is enrolled in the CMI Level 8 program on Strategic Leadership and Direction at the Alliance Manchester Business School since 2020.
