Gary Word

Gary Word, Ph.D. has a long and varied work experience. In 2021, they began working as the VP Innovation and VP of Engineering, Interim at Avaneer Health. From 2019 to 2021, they worked as a Senior Business Consultant at PrideOne, where they were the Platform Product Manager for Liink, a global, cross-bank network built on top of Quorum and Ethereum, and the Product Manager for the network's administrative applications and a novel billing and payment system. From 2015 to 2019, they worked at Change Healthcare (formerly Emdeon) as a Business Product Owner, Consumer Payments. Prior to this, they worked at Citi from 2002 to 2015 in various roles, including EVP/Executive Director of Citi Retail Services, EVP/Executive Director of Citi Enterprise Payments, Executive VP, and Senior Auditor. From 2006 to 2010, they were a Board Member at the Financial Services Roundtable (FSR) BITS Executive Board. From 1994 to 2010, they were a Board Member at the Financial Services Technology Consortium. In 2001, they co-founded URU Technologies, and in 1999 they were the Chief Innovation Officer at Nextera. Gary began their career at Citigroup in 1994, where they were a Senior VP.

Gary Word, Ph.D. received their Ph.D. in Physics from Vanderbilt University between 1983 and 1988. Gary also holds a BA in Mathematics and Physics from Jacksonville University, which they obtained between 1977 and 1980.
