Scott Dean

Scott Dean, CSCP, has a strong background in operations and manufacturing. Scott is currently the Vice President of Operations at Avantor, a position they have held since April 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Senior Director of Operations at Avantor from May 2019 to April 2023, and as the Director of Operations, STI Components from January 2018 to April 2019.

Before joining Avantor, Scott worked at L3 Technologies as the Director of Manufacturing from January 2016 to January 2018, and as the Production Manager from September 2012 to December 2015. Scott also held the role of Manager and Lead Engineer of Assembly and Test at Rochester Precision Optics from January 2008 to September 2012, and served as the Assembly Manager at CVI Melles Griot from April 2006 to January 2008.

Scott's earlier experience includes working at the University of Rochester, Laboratory for Laser Energetics, where they were the Mechanical Assembly and Design Team Leader from June 1999 to April 2006. Overall, Scott Dean has a diverse and extensive background in operations and manufacturing roles.

Scott Dean, CSCP, holds a Master of Science degree in Manufacturing Management and Leadership from Rochester Institute of Technology, which they obtained from 2004 to 2006. Scott also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution, completing it from 1994 to 1997. In addition to their academic qualifications, Scott Dean has obtained various certifications throughout their career. Some of these certifications include Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) from APICS, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from Six Sigma Global Institute, and certifications in strategic decision-making, leadership, and organizational change from the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School - Executive Development. Scott has also completed several online courses through LinkedIn on topics such as leadership presence, managing anxiety while presenting, and understanding and supporting Asian employees. Scott Dean's commitment to continuous learning is evident through their pursuit of both academic and professional certifications.
