Jan Karstens

Jan Karstens is an accomplished technology executive with extensive experience in software engineering and leadership roles. Currently serving as Chief Technology Officer at Avantra since September 2025, Karstens previously held the position of AI Solution Architect at Aleph Alpha from November 2024 to September 2025. Prior to that, Karstens was the Chief Technology Officer at STP – The Legal Tech Company from May 2022 to November 2023 and held various senior positions at Blue Yonder, including CVP Cloud Platform Engineering and Head of Development, from June 2011 to May 2022. Early career experience includes a Development Architect role at SAP AG from October 2005 to May 2011 and a Specialist Software Engineering position at Lufthansa Systems from August 1997 to September 2005. Academic credentials include Master's degrees in Computer Software Engineering from Hasso Plattner Institute and Software Engineering from the University of Potsdam, complemented by studies at La Trobe University in 2003.
