Dmitry Ulyanov

Dmitry Ulyanov has a diverse range of work experience in the fields of computer vision, deep learning, and software engineering. Dmitry is currently the Co-Founder and CEO of Avaturn, where they lead the development of a smartphone app and SDK for 3D body scanning. Prior to this, Dmitry worked as a PhD student at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, conducting research in computer vision and deep learning. Dmitry also served as a teaching assistant for a course on Representations and Deep Learning at the institute and at Yandex Data Science School. In addition, Dmitry worked as a researcher at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, where they collaborated on a short-term project focused on efficient methods for 3D point cloud registration.

Dmitry has also held positions at Samsung R&D Institute & AI Center Russia, where they worked as a Leading Engineer and developed an AR/VR full-body telepresence method using neural networks. Dmitry also created a system for real-time rendering of 3D scenes and point clouds. As a Senior Data Scientist at Dbrain, Dmitry developed an image enhancement system based on Convolutional Neural Networks and led a team in developing an OCR system for national passports.

Prior to these roles, Dmitry worked as a Research Scientist at Yandex, where they created and open-sourced technology used in stylization apps like Prisma and Vinci. Dmitry also developed a core technology for the website likemo.net. During their time as a Software Engineering Intern at Google, Dmitry explored convolutional neural networks for the speaker verification problem, which led to accuracy improvements.

Before entering the field of computer science, Dmitry worked as a 1C Software Engineer at the Center for Account Technologies. Dmitry Ulyanov has a strong education background in the field of computer science, specifically focusing on computer vision and machine learning. Dmitry earned their Master's degree in Machine Learning from Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) in the years 2010-2015. Following that, Dmitry pursued further academic achievements and obtained a PhD in Computer Vision from Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology between 2015 and 2019. During their PhD studies, they also had the opportunity to be a visiting PhD student at the University of Oxford from 2015 to 2018. Additionally, Dmitry has taken several additional certifications in various subjects, including algorithms, data analysis, statistical inference, digital signal processing, and discrete inference and learning in artificial vision, from the platform Coursera.
