Gavin Hurley

Gavin Hurley, Ph.D., serves as an Associate Professor of Communication and Director of the Writing Program at Ave Maria University since July 2020, teaching a diverse range of courses including Corporate Narrative & Storytelling, Rhetoric in the Age of AI, and Strategic Communication. In addition to academic responsibilities, Gavin is a Fellow at Ave Maria University and functions as a Collegeboard AP test reader and rater for the Literature Advanced Placement exam at Educational Testing Service since May 2013. Previous roles include Assistant Professor of English at the University of Providence, and multiple teaching positions at Lasell College, University of Rhode Island, Roger Williams University, and Johnson & Wales University. Gavin earned a Ph.D. in English: Writing and Rhetoric from the University of Rhode Island and holds a Master’s degree in Writing from Rowan University as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Saint Joseph's University.
