Jaap Harkema

Jaap Harkema is an experienced professional in the food industry, currently serving as the Business Development Plant-based Meat at Avebe since December 2018, focusing on enhancing the texture, nutrition, and sustainability of plant-based food products. Prior to this role, Jaap held the position of Marketing Manager for Good Food Ingredients, overseeing high-value ingredients that promote healthy and eco-friendly food solutions. With a solid foundation in marketing, Jaap previously worked as the Marketing Manager for Solanic® Potato Proteins at Avebe Solanic from July 2007 to January 2021, and held various marketing and project management roles at AVEBE from January 2001 to July 2007, where responsibilities included the development of global strategies for multiple food segments. Jaap's educational background includes an MSc in Food Technology from Wageningen University & Research and completion of a program at INSEAD in 2017.
