Brent James

Director of Operational Control and Performance at Avelo Airlines

Brent James has a long history of experience in the aviation industry. Brent began their career in 2001 at World Airways as an OCC Duty Manager and Crew Scheduler. In this role, they managed the Dispatch, Crew Resources, and Maintenance departments during regular and irregular operations. Brent then moved up to Manager of Aircraft Scheduling and Fleet Utilization, where they led scheduling and seasonal route development of all B-747, MD-11, and DC-10 full service/ACMI passenger and cargo flights. In 2013, they joined Silver Airways as Senior Vice President Operations - 14 CFR Part 119 Director of Safety. In this role, they managed and mentored the Operations Control Center, Safety, and Technical Operations organizations. Brent completed the operational integration of Seaborne Airlines and Silver Airways to operate under one AOC and was the executive sponsor and project lead for ATR 72-500 Cargo Aircraft introduction for Prime Air service. Brent also served as the primary liaison between the Operations Control Center, Commercial, Network Planning, and senior leadership in developing strategies and programs to advance business-related operations planning and execution processes. In 2022, they joined Avelo Airlines as the Director of Operational Control and Performance.

Brent James obtained a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management from Auburn University. Brent also holds a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aircraft Dispatcher certification, which they obtained in April 2005, and an FAA Private Pilot Instrument Airplane certification, which they obtained in May 1999.
