Felipe Gonzalez-Macqueen has a diverse work experience in various archaeological and geographical information systems (GIS) roles. Felipe'smost recent position was as the Map Store Business Development Lead at Avenza Systems Inc., where they managed daily operations, developed projects to improve the platform experience, and engaged with entities around the world to encourage the use of the Avenza Map Store. Prior to that, they worked as a GIS Specialist for the Map Sales Team at the same company, where they ensured a high quality standard for maps in the online store and expanded the Map Store's content and brand awareness. Felipe also worked as a GIS Analyst for The Bronze Age Köros Off-Tell Archaeology Project, where they led rectification and digitization projects, taught and supervised students on GIS usage, and translated maps into Hungarian. Felipe served as a Drone Surveyor for the Quilcapampa Archaeological Investigation Project, focusing on mapping and surveying archaeological sites using drone technology. Felipe's experience also includes working as a Field Archaeologist for ASI | Archaeological and Cultural Heritage Services, where they conducted historical excavations and sorted recovered artifacts. Felipe also served as a Graduate Research Assistant at Western University, managing archaeological material, inventory, and associated information. Felipe has worked in various other roles, including as a Field Archaeologist for Archeoworks Inc. and Huaca Colorada Field School.
Felipe Gonzalez-Macqueen has a diverse education history. In 2010-2014, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, with a minor in Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations, at the University of Toronto. Felipe then pursued a Certificate in Applied Digital Geography and Geographic Information Science and Cartography at Ryerson University in 2015-2016. From 2016-2018, Felipe obtained their Master of Arts degree in Andean Archaeology from Western University. In 2022, they attended BrainStation to gain expertise in Product Management. Additionally, Felipe obtained an Applied Research Archaeological License from the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport in September 2017.
