Maryam Jordan

Maryam Jordan has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Maryam started their career as an Assistant Manager at Payless ShoeSource, where they quickly progressed to managing money handling and training new employees. Maryam then transitioned to a role as a Customer Service Representative at Microcenter, where they were responsible for providing excellent service and assisting with inventory management. Following that, Maryam worked as a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, where they performed various duties and trained new team members.

In pursuit of their scientific interests, Maryam gained research experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant and Summer Research Intern at UC Santa Cruz, where they worked on projects related to ocean acidification and DNA isolation. Maryam also interned at Workshops for Engineering and Science Transfers (WEST), where they participated in a marine ecology field study and presented their findings at a poster presentation.

Maryam further expanded their scientific expertise as a Graduate Student Researcher and Teaching Associate at California State University - East Bay. In these roles, they developed and executed experimental procedures, optimized reaction conditions, and managed diverse laboratory classrooms.

Maryam then moved to the biotechnology industry, working as a Scientist Intern at Haystack Sciences and later as a Research Associate at the same company. Maryam gained experience in synthesizing DNA-encoded libraries, conducting solid-state and in-solution chemical reactions, and following standard operating procedures.

Afterward, Maryam joined Roche Sequencing USA as a Scientist I for a brief period before landing their current position as an Associate Scientist at Avidity Biosciences, Inc. Maryam is involved in synthesizing, analyzing, and purifying antibody oligonucleotide conjugates, contributing to platform innovation, and developing methods using various analytical techniques.

From 2015 to 2018, they attended California State University - East Bay, where they earned a Master of Science (M.S.) in Organic Chemistry.

Prior to that, they studied at the University of California, Santa Cruz from 2012 to 2015, and obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry.

Before their undergraduate studies, Maryam attended Mission College from 2009 to 2012, where they earned an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Physical Sciences.
