Andy Jett

Associate Professor & Dean, College of Professional Schools at Avila University

Dr. Jett is the inaugural dean for the newly formed College of Professional Schools (CPS). This College is made up of the Schools of Business, Education, Visual and Communication Arts and the Institute for Professional Studies as well as the Workforce Development Academy. Dr. Jett has been in higher education for almost 30 years with roles ranging from Bookstore Manager to Vice President of Strategic Planning. Having worked with and for faculty for many years his new role as a Dean gives him the opportunity to use all of those past experiences and challenges to lead growth within CPS. His educational journey started as a first-generation student at Colby Community College where he earned his Associate of Science in Accounting. Two years later he completed his undergraduate degree in Business Administration at Wichita State University. Dr. Jett worked at institutions such as Hutchinson Community College and for College Bookstores of America where he managed multiple accounts across the western United States.

rior to coming to Avila Dr. Jett worked for 15 years at Baker University where he was the Chief Information Officer, VP of Institutional Effectiveness, Strategic Planning, and Academic Resources. During that time he also held multiple interim roles across administrative and faculty positions along with teaching, developing, and overseeing courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs for adult students. While at Baker University – Dr. Jett earned his graduate degree in Liberal Arts with a focus on Religion and Philosophy and then more recently completed his doctorate in Higher Education Leadership. His doctoral research was a focus on faculty usage of Web 2.0 tools and the perceived effectiveness of those tools. This work is a continuing effort for Dr. Jett as he works to build quality and rigorous online programming for the institution. Dr. Jett enjoys teaching courses in leadership, business management, program design and evaluation, and ethics.
