Gemma Porter has diverse work experience spanning various industries. Gemma started their career at Peninsula Personnel, where they worked as a Temporary Office Assistant and Temporary Customer Service Agent from 2009 to 2012. In 2013, they joined Economical Insurance as an Administration, Claims Support, where they handled customer inquiries, data entry, and claim administration. Gemma then worked at Hunt Personnel Temporarily Yours Vancouver as an Assistant Recruiter/Administrative Assistant from 2015 to 2016, where they were responsible for payroll processing, reception cover, and assisting senior consultants in the recruitment process. Following that, they joined The Sweet Tooth Cakery in 2012 as a Baker and Wholesale Co-ordinator until 2017. Gemma also worked as a Forensic Genealogist at HeirSearch from 2016 to 2017. Currently, they hold the position of Responsible Investments Analyst at Aware Super, a role they have been in since 2021. Throughout their career, Gemma has demonstrated skills in administration, customer service, data management, and recruitment.

Gemma Porter completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Archaeology from the University of Sydney from 2008 to 2012. In 2011, they also briefly attended the University of Manitoba, although it's unknown if they obtained a degree or pursued a specific field of study there. Prior to their university studies, Gemma attended the Northern Beaches Christian School, but it is unclear whether they obtained any degrees or pursued any particular field of study during that time.
