Andrew Critchley

Andrew Critchley has over two decades of experience in asset operations and research within the defense and technology sector. Currently serving as Group Leader for Asset Operations at AWE since May 2003, Andrew oversees facility operations for key technology centers, managing an annual budget exceeding £10 million. Additional responsibilities include acting as Estate Sponsor, ensuring a clear Safe Operating Envelope for approximately 250 facility users, and leading the 10-year infrastructure investment plan. As Transformation Sponsor, Andrew contributes to the Corporate Change Programme by developing a cultural program that enhances safety and security measures. Previous roles at AWE include leading the Hydrodynamics Group and managing a £1 million annual diagnostic development research project. Prior to AWE, Andrew was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Birmingham, focusing on molecular physics. Andrew holds a PhD from Newcastle University and a Master's degree in Physics from the University of Birmingham.
