Steven Terry, MS, GSP, CSHO has extensive experience in the field of environmental health and safety (EHS). Steven is currently serving as the Director of EHS Compliance at AWP Safety since April 2023. Previously, they worked as the Regional EHS Manager M&I at BrandSafway from November 2021 to April 2023. From August 2013 to April 2023, Steven was an EHS Consultant at Swish Safety, where they provided guidance and direction in determining job risk, managed waste-related activities, created and implemented safety programs, and conducted training. Steven served as the Regional EHS Manager at BrightView Landscapes from October 2019 to October 2021, where they successfully reduced the OSHA recordable incident rate and managed a team of safety staff. Prior to that, they held roles such as Regional Environment Health Safety Manager at Beacon Roofing Supply, Subsidiary Corporate Safety Manager at Basalite Concrete Products, Senior Safety Engineer at Mortenson, and Regional Environment Health Safety Manager at Atlas Oil Company. Steven began their career as a Sr. EHS Staff Professional at Hess Corporation, where they provided EHS support to various operations divisions. Throughout their career, Steven has demonstrated expertise in risk assessment, hazard control, safety program implementation, compliance management, and training.
Steven Terry has a comprehensive education history. Steven obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Business from Sul Ross State University in the years 1993 to 1997. Later, in 2010 to 2011, they pursued a B.S degree in Occupational Safety and Health at Columbia Southern University. Steven furthered their education at the same institution, completing an M.S. in Environmental Management with a focus on Occupational Safety and Health from 2019 to 2021.
Additionally, Steven achieved various certifications. Steven obtained a Certification as a Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) from the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) in 2011. In 2018, they became a Driver Instructor through the Smith System Driver Improvement Institute, Inc. Moreover, in 2019, they gained certification as a First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor from the American Red Cross. Finally, in 2021, they earned the designation of GSP (Graduate Safety Practitioner) from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).
