Carrie Aurit has held various roles in the GIS field since 1999. Carrie began their career as a GIS Specialist at L.R. Kimball a CDI Company, where they created cadastral maps, compiled countywide tax maps, and created and maintained countywide soil layers for projects in North Carolina. In 2000, they moved to Progress Energy as a GIS Analyst/QAQC Leader, where they were responsible for QA/QC of the data conversion post validation process. From 2001 to 2003, they were the Assistant Regional Coordinator for FEMA's Region 6 Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) Mapping projects for PBS&J, where they handled all internal issues, assured a high level of quality of DFIRMs, tracked and managed the overall study work within the region, and provided outreach support to Municipal and County Governments. In 2003, they became a GIS Analyst II at PBS&J. In 2005, they joined AECOM as Environment Operations Manager, leading the Tampa office's Environmental Business Group in Operations and providing Senior Project Management and Business Development. Carrie also served as GIS Development Manager for AECOM's Greater Florida Region. From 2017 to 2020, they worked at SCS Engineers as a Project Director, and then at Environmental Consulting & Technology, Inc. (ECT) as a GIS Manager. Carrie is currently a Program Manager and Project Manager at Axim Geospatial.

Carrie Aurit obtained a Bachelor's degree in Geography from the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown between 1995 and 1999. Carrie also has two certifications, a CFM from the Association of State Floodplain Managers, Inc. (ASFPM) and a GISP from the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI).
