Thomas Mauchien is a highly experienced mechanical engineer with a strong background in structures and mechanisms. Currently serving as a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer at Axiom Space, Thomas leads a team in the development of hatches for a future commercial space station, guiding the design through critical review stages. Previously, as a Senior II Mechanical Engineer at Schlumberger, Thomas was instrumental in creating a complex electro-mechanical tool, managing the project lifecycle from concept to commercial product. Experience also includes contributions as a Mechatronics Engineer at Ideation Systems, where Thomas designed an innovative mind-controlled pendulum and assisted in securing a significant grant, as well as academic roles at The University of Texas at Austin, focusing on research and teaching in engineering mechanics. Thomas holds a Master of Science in Engineering Mechanics from The University of Texas at Austin and a Diplome d'ingenieur in Multidisciplinary Engineering from Centrale Lille.
