Drew Nickerson

Drew Nickerson has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Drew is currently employed as a Frontend Developer at Axios HQ since December 2021. Before that, they worked at Excella for 4 years and 10 months, where they held the position of Senior Consultant - Developer. During this time, they were involved in projects such as MyUSCIS and E-Verify Modernization, where they acted as a CSS and JavaScript mentor and implemented visual style unification efforts.

Prior to their role at Excella, Drew worked as a Freelance Web Developer under their own business from August 2015 to January 2017. Drew specialized in building custom static websites for local restaurants, focusing on modern layouts and mobile-first architecture. To enhance their skills, they attended the Flatiron School's web immersive program in New York City to learn about dynamic content creation and computer science using Ruby, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and React.

Before venturing into web development, Drew had experience in project management and operations analysis. Drew worked as a Project Manager of Soft Cost Operations at Brookland Capital from June 2014 to September 2015, where they managed properties and coordinated with construction managers. Drew also served as an Operations Analyst at Manhattan Capital LLC from January 2014 to June 2014, where they researched investment opportunities and designed quarterly reports.

Other notable roles in Drew's work history include a brief stint as an Account Executive at Yelp, where they handled targeted online advertising for businesses in Detroit and Boston, and a position as a Technical Writer at Web Development, Technology Services of Tulane University, where they documented website redesigns and provided content for the institution's Technology Services blog.

In addition to their professional experience, Drew has also been involved in community outreach and education. Drew interned as a Community Outreach Intern at Instituto Nacional de Tecnologia Agropecuaria in 2012, organizing programs to improve urban nutrition.
