Juha Alakarhu

Juha Alakarhu has extensive experience in the field of imaging technology. Juha has held various roles in different companies, starting as a research assistant at Tampere University of Technology. Juha then worked at Nokia, where they served as a Senior Specialist, Senior Technology Manager for the Camera Entity, and later as the Head of Imaging Technologies. At Nokia Technologies, they held the position of Head of Imaging for the OZO team, focusing on virtual reality camera hardware and software development. Juha later joined Microsoft, where they served as the Director of Technology Development and Director of Lead Program Manager, Phones Imaging, responsible for the imaging technology in phones. Finally, they worked at Axon as the VP of Imaging, at PROPHESEE as a Technical Advisor, and currently serves as a Technical Advisor and a Member of the Board at poLight ASA. Throughout their career, Alakarhu has developed pioneering camera technologies for smartphones, including oversampling, optical image stabilization, iris scanning, and proprietary image processing. Their work has made significant contributions to the industry standard in image sensor performance.

Juha Alakarhu attended the Tampere University of Technology from 1995 to 2000, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Information Technology. Juha later pursued further education at the same university from 2000 to 2004, earning a Doctor of Technology degree in Digital and Computer Systems.
