Shiela Yabo has a diverse work experience that spans several industries and roles. In 2011, they started as a Student Records Assistant at the University of Cape Town, where they were responsible for processing transcripts, course outlines, and handling sensitive information such as student deaths. Shiela then transitioned to the South African Education and Environment Project, where they served as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors from 2015 to 2017.

In 2014, Shiela joined the UCT Graduate School of Business as an Admissions Officer, a role they held until 2017. During their time there, they assisted in the admissions process for prospective students. Shiela concurrently served as a Student Mentor - Systems Thinking from 2017 to 2019, providing academic support to current students.

In 2017, Shiela became a part of the UCT GSB Solution Space, where they held various roles over the years. Starting as a Programme Coordinator, they progressed to Acting Programme Manager - Waterfront Hub and eventually became a Program Manager. Their responsibilities included managing programs and coordinating activities.

From 2019 to 2021, Shiela was a member of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project - Steering Committee at the University of Cape Town. Shiela contributed to the strategic direction and decision-making of the project.

In 2021, Shiela joined University Impact as the Country Director - South Africa, leading operations in the country. Shiela later founded their own company, Connected Dot Labs, in 2022, where they served as Founder and CEO.

Currently, Shiela is the Head of Ecosystem Development at Ayoba, a role they have held since 2023. Shiela is responsible for driving the development and growth of the company's ecosystem.

Shiela Yabo has a diverse education history. In 2001, they completed their Matric degree with a focus on Accounting at Oscar Mpetha High School. From 2007 to 2010, they attended the University of Cape Town, earning a Bachelor of Social Science degree in Social Anthropology and Gender Studies. In 2014, Shiela pursued an Associate in Management degree from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town. Shiela then furthered their education at the same institution, completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Practice with a specialization in Business Administration and Management in 2017.
