Erik Costlow

Erik Costlow has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Erik is currently serving as the Senior Director of Product Management at Azul, where they focus on Java security and performance, as well as custom software. Prior to this, they worked as a News Editor at InfoQ, where they provided accurate and detailed news about software development and architecture, with a particular focus on Java, security, and application performance.

Before InfoQ, Erik worked as the Director of Developer Relations at Contrast Security, where they demonstrated the impact of software that could defend itself and updated capabilities without code changes. Their specialty was Java instrumentation and performance.

Prior to that, they served as a Senior Product Manager at Turbonomic, leading the development of features for an autonomous performance assurance system, including CPU capacity optimization for on-premise data centers.

Erik also had experience as an Author at Packt, where they published a course on practical applications of cryptography, and as a Principal Product Manager at Oracle's Java Platform Group, where they led efforts to address Java security issues and achieved a two-year shut-out of zero-day vulnerabilities.
