Elias Dorneles

Elias Dorneles has a diverse work experience in software engineering. Elias started their career at Serpro, where they worked as a software engineer in a team building a large-scale Java Web application for a government agency client. Elias also assisted the IT team in building and improving their monitoring tools.

After that, Elias joined the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) and worked on developing web applications for the administrative needs of the university. Elias also played a role in setting up a continuous integration system and implementing monitoring for JBoss/Tomcat servers. At UFSC, they adopted Scrum techniques to enhance teamwork efficiency.

Next, Elias worked remotely at Gendoc Sistemas E Empreendimentos, where they were a software engineer in the research team. Elias contributed to solving business problems and technological challenges, particularly in image processing, NLP, data mining, and machine learning. Elias also developed web applications for OCR layout analysis and worked on evaluating OCR system output quality and information extraction.

Elias greatly optimized the deployment process, resulting in an increase in productivity and faster shipping.

Following that, Elias worked at CTMA - Clinical Trials Mobile Application as a senior software developer. Elias took over the maintenance of the existing Java backend, identified and fixed bugs, and addressed security and architecture problems. Elias then designed and led the implementation of a Python backend, adopting best development practices and a cleaner architecture. Elias used Python, Postgresql, Java, GitLab, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Docker, and Nginx in their work.

Currently, Elias is employed at Back Market as a senior backend engineer, where they continue to contribute their expertise and knowledge in backend development.

Elias Dorneles pursued their formal education in a chronological order, starting from 2004 to 2008. During this period, they attended the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. After a hiatus of several years, Elias resumed their education in 2020 and completed it in 2026.
