Waqar Akbar is a seasoned investment professional with extensive experience in the sovereign wealth fund sector. Currently serving as Senior Director at Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company since March 2015, Waqar is responsible for executing new investments and managing a diverse portfolio of companies globally. Previous board memberships include Envirogen Group, NAS Administration Services, GEMS Education, and Nobel Learning Communities, each facilitating significant sales and transitions. Prior to their tenure at Mumtalakat, Waqar held the position of Vice President at Mubadala and worked at McKinsey & Company, IBM, and PwC. Waqar holds a BA in Economics from Middlebury College and has completed advanced programs at The Tuck School of Business and INSEAD.
