Prashant Hiwarkar M.D.

Prashant Hiwarkar MD, PhD has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of medicine and research. Prashant is currently serving as the Director of Translational Medicine at RxMD, where they provide strategic input into drug development consulting and contributes to translational gap analysis and indication selection. Prior to this role, Dr. Hiwarkar held the position of Head of Department for Blood and Marrow Transplantation and Pediatric Hematology at BAI JERBAI WADIA HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN - BJWHC.

Dr. Hiwarkar also has experience working in academic institutions, as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester from 2018 to 2021, and as a Clinical Research Fellow in the Molecular Immunology Unit at the Institute of Child Health from 2010 to 2014. Prashant has also worked as a Consultant in Pediatric Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Birmingham Children's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and as a Locum Consultant at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

Additionally, Dr. Hiwarkar has served as an SpR Haematology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust and at Imperial College Healthcare, St. Georges Hospital Healthcare, and Royal Marsden Hospital Healthcare NHS. Prashant holds a PhD in molecular immunology, further demonstrating their expertise in the field. Through their various roles, Dr. Hiwarkar has made significant contributions to the field of pediatric hematology and bone marrow transplantation.

Prashant Hiwarkar MD, PhD has an extensive education history that spans multiple disciplines. Prashant began their academic journey at the University of Mumbai from 1992 to 2001, where they pursued a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in the field of Medicine, specifically in Paediatrics.

Following this, Prashant Hiwarkar furthered their education at the Royal College of Pathologists, where they enrolled from 2005 to 2010. During this period, they obtained the prestigious title of Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists, specializing in Clinical Haematology.

Driven by a passion for transplantation and immunology, Prashant Hiwarkar pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Transplant Immunology at UCL (University College London) from 2011 to 2014.

Through their comprehensive education, Dr. Hiwarkar has acquired a diverse set of knowledge and skills in the fields of medicine, paediatrics, clinical haematology, and transplant immunology.
