Dr. Lynne Murray

Dr. Lynne Murray is Baker University’s 29th president, beginning her tenure on July 1, 2014.

Murray previously served as the vice president for development, international and alumni relations at Washington, D.C.-based Gallaudet University, the world’s only university for deaf and hard of hearing people. She initiated national and global partnerships and spearheaded fundraising efforts.

Before that, Murray worked at Georgetown University as a senior director for advancement, playing a key role in raising $317 million in total gifts. At Johns Hopkins University, Murray served in corporate and community relations, and as the director for Youth Service America, where she was recognized in 1994 by then-President of the United States, Bill Clinton, for her leadership in creating awareness for youth service. Murray began her career in public television as a producer and on-air personality.

Murray earned a bachelor’s degree in English from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, a master’s degree in marketing from Johns Hopkins University, and a doctorate in special education administration from Gallaudet.

At Baker, Murray is leading the institution in record-high enrollment at the Baldwin City campus and has secured some of the largest gifts in university history, including a recent $1 million gift to support scholarships from the Give Something Back Foundation.
