Margaret Shields

Margaret Shields is an accomplished professional in the field of plant breeding, currently serving as the Regional Breeding Director at Ball Horticultural Company since February 2022. Prior experience includes a role as the Global Cotton Breeding Manager at BASF from August 2018 to February 2022, where responsibilities encompassed managing a global team, driving program innovations, and overseeing significant budgets. Earlier positions at Bayer CropScience included US Cotton Breeding Manager, where strategic planning and personnel management were key, as well as various roles focused on the management of breeding stations and development programs. Margaret began career as an Assistant Breeder at Scott, MS, and holds a PhD in Plant Breeding from Texas Tech University, achieved in 2010.
