James Buss

James Buss currently serves as the Dean of the Honors College at Ball State University, a position held since June 2023. Prior to this role, James Buss was the Founding Dean of the Honors College at Northern Kentucky University from July 2018 to June 2023, and also held the position of Founding Dean of the Honors College at Salisbury University from July 2013 to July 2018, where additional roles included Associate Professor of History and Director of the Thomas E. Bellavance Honors Program. Earlier experience includes serving as Director of the University Honors Program and Chairperson of the Department of History at Oklahoma City University, as well as a Visiting Assistant Professor of History at Bowling Green State University. James Buss's educational background includes a PhD in History from Purdue University, along with master's and bachelor's degrees in Policy History and History/Economics from Bowling Green State University, supplemented by leadership programs at Harvard Graduate School of Education.
